Current Work in Physics

I have developed a new interpretation of quantum mechanics. So far all interpretations bring the observer into play which cannot be correct. The new interpretation is observer-independent. In addition, quantum mechanics relies very much on mathematical methods. It has to be ensured that an interpretation in reality exists for every mathematical description. Quantum objects do not exist in configuration space, they exist in position space.

The new interpretation is based on a new understanding of superposition. Very often it is assumed that superposition means that a quantum system can be in different states simultaneously. But this asumption is wrong. I assume that superpositon means that a quantum system oscillates between the different possible states of the superposition. I further assume that this oscillation happens on a scale of the Planck time. This assumption solves all problems of the previoius interpretations. Becasaue the intervall of current measurement times is magnitudes above the Planck scale many different states of the superpositon fall into one measurement interval. So even though every interaction process is completely determined - as it is required by the Schrödinger equation - one cannot know the exact initial conditions of an interaction. Consequently a measurement process looks like a collapse of the wave function and the measurement results can only be predicted with a certain probability. Thus with the new interpretation full causality is reestablished

The new understandig leads to a new understanding of quantum objects and the universe. We know already that quantum objects are neither particles nor waves. The new interpretation assumes that the so-called elemetary particles, quarks and electrons, are possibilities for interaction. That means that elementary particles are not elements in space but rather properties of space. That also leads to the consequence that space and time are discrete, not continous. It should be emphasized that the new interpreation is in full agreement wit hall prominent experimental findings about quantum objects and superposition.

Current Work in Philosophy

I just have finished a work in which I solve the mind-body problem and unravel the mystery of human consciousness. I prove the complete and consistent correctness of materialism and reductionism. I show how every mental state or property can completely be reduced to physics, namely to the brain.

The solution of the mind-body problem leads to some consequences for philosophy. Idealism is proven to be wrong. Consequently the problem of universals can be solved. In philosophy of mathematics Benacerraf's dilemma can be solved, the continuum hypothesis can be confirmed and the irrelevanve of Gödel's incompleteness theorem can be shown. The major fault of mathematics is the treatment of infinity as reality, not as possibility. There might be some major consequences for physics as well.

Right now I am working on an article about what I call the meta-problem of philosophy. The meta-problem of philosophy is the problem that many philosophical accounts are in complete contradiction with the current knowledge of the natural sciences. It has to be emphysized that this alone must not be a bad thing. The current knowledge of the natural sciences might be wrong. But it is not possible that philosophers commit to the scientific worldview but publish accounts that are in complete cotradiction to this knowledge. In this case they have explicitly  to indicate where they think that the natural sciences are wrong.

Current Work in Neuroscience

In order to solve the mind-body problem it is necessary to verify what consciousness is and explain the mechanisms how consciousness works. I have clarified some confusion about consciousness and elobarated some of these mechanisms. With the solution of the philosophical mind-body problem I also solve the hard problem of neuroscience, which is considered to be the question how phenomenal experience is possible.

In an article I have proposed a mechanism how consciousness is created. Very important is the distinction between unconsciousness, subconsciousness and consciousness. All functions of the brain that use fixed neural connections work unconsciously. Only in the cortex there exists a feature called neurplasticity that can create new neural connections. Neurplasticity is the reason for memory and learning. In the  cortex there are two modes of the brain that both use neuroplasticity, namely subconsciousness and consciousness. Subconsciousness works with multiple simultaneous process and also works when we sleep. On the other hand, consciousness requires wakefulness and con only work with one process at a time. But the cortex can switch between conscious and subconscious processes. Recent research suggest that the switching is be done by the subthalmic nucleus. My assumption is that this switsching is achieved by controlling the adrenealine level of the involved processes.

In another articleI explain again how humans developed to today's species. The decisive factor is the development of a declarative language. Thinking is language. We experince this every time when we think, because then we speak silently to ourselves. In the article I prove that all previous attempts to explain the human development by genetic mutations of the brain are wrong. The decisive step were genetic mutations of the speaking-apparatus which occured only in Homo sapiens, not in other Homo-species. Especially we have to mention here the lowering of the larynx and the enlargement of the pharynx. With the starting point of a sufficiently developed brain humans had now the possibility to create much more sound combinations than animals in signal languages or other Homo-species within their rudimentary languages. The decisive point on the way to advanced thinking was the development of the second level of abstraction. These kind of terms are not connected to imaginations any more, they are only definded by other terms.
